Subtitles addon error

Hopefully someone around here can help me, as I suddently have problems downloading subtitles.
Just to be clear, it worked perfectly yesterday - but I did a fresh install and restored my backup on my fresh install. (Long story short, my partition was too small for LibreELEC so I had to do a new and fresh install to update to the latest version)

I downloaded the latest version of LibreELEC, and did a backup of my old install. Then I restored my backup to the fresh install, and everything works as it should - but not downloading subtitles from Subscene and OpenSubtitles. This is the error I get from the addons;

Code:

I've tried to delete the addons, delete the addon data in the userdata directory and installed them again. However, no luck at all. As I said, this worked perfectly before I reinstalled LibreELEC. Anyone have any ideas what causing this?

I appreciate any help I can get to solve this.. Maybe I just have to do a clean install and don't restore any old backups? I hate to loose my watched status, settings etc :-)

Thank you!

Hi i am having trouble getting subtitles to display on the video when playing through DLNA. They are working on some of the files, but i can't figure why or how to get it on everyone. It works on a couple of my video file thats stored in the folder videos >> movieFolder >> movie, srt file. This is where i have the video and srt file stored in the folder. Same thing with the other one video that works. I have another video stored in video >> moreVideos >> MyMovie >> movie, srt file . I can't get it to work? How do i get it to work? The subtitles work file playing through Kodi, but not through DLNA, except the two i said work so far. Just changed it so it would be under Videos >> myMovie >> movie, str file, but it subtitle still not going through DLNA ? What do i do?

Subtitles for Movies

I have had no luck in getting any subtitles "on demand" from within kodi while watching a movie.
I am quite confident the reason for any subtitle plugin or addon failing is because the subtitles are in a *.zip or *.rar file and the subtitle addon is looking for a *.srt or similar subtitle file extension.

Has anyone found a way to get this working, so that the addon extracts the subtitles from the archive and displays the subtitles?

Also, I have tremendous problems trying to find subtitles for a movie with second languages in them. I know this is often referred to as forced or foreign parts only, etc. but there are so many subtitles to browse through and quite often there doesn't seem to be any of these available.

I find watching a movie with English subtitles very difficult to concentrate on, as I end up reading them and missing the film.

I also find that if I am half way through a movie and there's a part with a 2nd language, that if I stop the movie, go into my browser, get the forced subtitle file, etc. copy it to the right location after I have extracted it from an archive, etc. when I return to the movie and set this as the subtitle to use, it very often ends up out of sync by many seconds.

Does anyone have any useful tips to avoid this happening? other than doing without or setting it up before starting the movie (as often that doesn't seem to fix it either).

background for subtitles (feature request?)

After searching, I saw a few posts about subtitle clarity and the desire for background colour but some were quite old so I thought I would ask again.

Is something like this possible? Ideally with the ability to control the opacity (and colour) on the background from totally transparent to completely opaque.

Is this something I should be asking in a skinning forum? Is it best implemented there?

I have good eyes so not generally a game changer but I was looking at an old black and white show where the subtitles were hard to see on the many mostly-white backgrounds. Has this been discussed?

greek subs - help!

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone is having an issue with regards to greek subs. For example, I am watching a series which started in 2015 (Aquarius) and has already finished and there are subs for the first couple episodes and then nothing. This is not a one time occurrence and it is very frustrating to start watching a series to then find out there are no longer greek subs available. I have all the add-ons for greek subs, if anyone has any suggestions or aid regarding this matter it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

"Browse for Subtitles" shortcut

I am trying to map to a Key in my keyboard the "Browse for subtitles" window in video mode (the one that is under the sound icon in the video mode OSD), but I just can't find the action for it (or window name or ID). I have already mapped some utilities such as "SubtitleSearch" (so that you know I am not a total novice).
Can someone help me with this?

Opensubtitles popup box every time I start a movie

I've been playing about with my Kodi 16 configuration.

Now, when I start a movie, after a few seconds I get a popup screen "OPENSUBTITLES.ORG. BY OPENSUBTITLES" and a message "No subtitle services installed".

The thing is, I have actually uninstalled Opensubtitles (and all other subtitle addons).

I have also unchecked "Enable subtitles" and "Set as default for all videos", but with no joy.

How do I stop this box from popping up?

Help, I don't speak Dothraki!

tl,dr:
Is there a service/addon/provider that will retrieve/display the subtitles for non-English (Klingon, Elvish, Dothraki, etc.) passages?

I get that these *should* be available within the .mkv container, and that the "Forced" tag needs to be enabled, but it is a problem nearly every time the family watches a movie that the format is wrong. Short of painstakingly going through each .mkv and fixing the problem the right way by editing the file, is there a workaround using the subtitle services to provide them?

Specifically:
  • Do any of the services (opensubtitles.org, etc.) provide such a specific subtitle format?
    • Can this be set to override the local subtitles?
    • Has anyone pursued this type of workaround to side-step improperly tagged .mkv files?

If this has been discussed at length before, please direct me to the forum. My searches have only found the methodology for correcting forced subtitle insufficiencies using MKVMerge, etc. My issue with these (even though it's the 'right' way to do it) is that it's most often done *after* the problem is realized, rather than a pro-active solution. I.e., after I've spent the duration of the show/movie toggling the subtitles on and off (and inevitably rewinding to catch something I wasn't quick enough to toggle for) while the family watches.
Seems like there should be a more elegant solution.

    Any direction would be appreciated.

Local sub override for streamed video?

$

Apologies if this is off topic...just updated to Krypton and just noticed that subs aren't working as i think they used to. in the past i could have a local subs file, and browse to it during playback of a streamed video. now i cannot seem to browse anywhere but the streams remote directory - no access to the local file system.

the reason being, the supplied subs (if they are present as not all providers supply all subs) are occasionally incorrect, incomplete or in the wrong language.

am i wrong? i thought it used to be possible...thanks Smile

See title.

If I have my devices accessing a centralized mysql set up for Kodi usage, would the subtitle offset I set on one device, be used by other devices using the same database?

Thanks in advance!

Some French subtitles on OpenSubtitles not there on Kodi

I configurated thé subtitles to be in french and download in french, but a lot of Times i dont find some French subtitles that exist on thé official site though, for example i was looking subtitles from the last epsiode of walking dead yesterday and i couldnt find anything, only when i chose English I found English ones, so is there à lack of support of french subtitles by kodi? I Guess thé subtitles are not automaticly synvhronised with thé site then, is there an easy way to download them directly from thé site with kodi ?
